description

The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is increasingly reliant on energy, specifically electricity, at its installations to conduct its mission to fly, fight and win in air, space and cyberspace. At the same time, assuring resilient, quality electricity at DAF installations is increasingly constrained by limited resources and a conventional, siloed approach to procuring and managing energy that favors reduced cost risk over new, nimble energy management strategies. For this reason, the DAF is seeking to leverage innovation from industry with the Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) business model as a means for installations to better meet mission electrical needs by integrating the services across the installation energy delivery chain. At a minimum, this EaaS prototype will collectively address the reliability of electricity delivered to end users, resilience capabilities in response to a disruption to commercial energy supplies and cost effectiveness as compared to traditional approaches.
